When I was in second grade, my mom had me go to a reading tutor. At the time, and for several years afterward, I did not know that she was a tutor. I thought that it was a baby-sitting hour at my mom’s friend’s house. Mrs. Phillips would play focused games with me (board games, flip card games, etc.), and we’d have some cookies. The time flew, and I had no idea I was learning.
That was a long time ago, and to this day people are still learning that serious gaming is great stuff.
It is catching on in big businesses, and has been on the rise for the past 10 or so years.
Recently we have seen an increase of news articles about the ‘gamification’ within corporations and how this ‘new’ gaming strategy will enhance companies. It will if focused learning is what they go for and use to reinforce key learning objectives.
Go forward to the serious, focused games!
